Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of Buy Local (“the Platform”). By creating an account or placing an order you agree to them.

1. Who we are

Buy Local is operated from the United Kingdom. You can reach us at hello@buylocal.live.

Admin note: the registered company name and address will be added here before production launch.

2. The service

Buy Local is a marketplace that connects independent UK producers with shoppers. We are not the seller of items listed by producers; the contract for each purchase is between the shopper and the producer.

3. Your account

• You must be 16 or older to create an account.
• Keep your password confidential; you are responsible for activity on your account.
• We may suspend accounts that breach these Terms.

4. Producer obligations

• Only list items you are legally entitled to sell.
• Provide accurate descriptions, allergen and provenance information.
• Fulfil orders promptly and honour the fulfilment options you advertise.
• Comply with all applicable consumer-protection, food-safety and trading-standards law.

5. Shopper rights

Where the UK Consumer Rights Act and Consumer Contracts Regulations apply (typically online sales by a business to a consumer), you have a statutory right to cancel certain purchases within 14 days of receipt. Perishable and personalised goods are excluded. Contact the producer directly to start a return.

6. Fees

Listing on Buy Local is free. We may take a commission on completed orders; the current rate is shown in the producer dashboard.

7. Content you post

You keep ownership of content you upload (photos, descriptions, reviews) and grant Buy Local a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host and display it on the Platform. Do not post content that is unlawful, misleading, defamatory or infringes someone else's rights.

8. Liability

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited (such as death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud). Subject to that, Buy Local is not liable for the quality of items sold by producers or for indirect or consequential loss.

9. Termination

You can close your account at any time from Settings → Privacy. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these Terms.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms; the version above will change and we will tell you about material changes.
